The string tapers at 37.75", so unless your bridge requires less than 0.75" string length, the taper ends up on the wrong side of the nut.

I have more than one bass with a low F# on it. Most such strings are usually .150 to about .170. This .145 gives me a clear open F# without sounding muddled or floppy. This string lasts a looooong time, too. They sound even better if the bass design will allow through-body stringing, but usually they have to be top-loaded, because the holes through the body are not large enough. The .145 strings themselves are very solid and have a rich, clear tone that doesn't fade quickly. There is only two other brands of string I've used for F#. One was a British flat-wound string I needed for a fretless bass, the other is a stateside string I use for special projects when I need a tapered ball-end string. That one and D'Addario are very good. That said, I am not taking anything at all away from the other two. Each is the very best according to its need The D'Addario has the advantage of being slightly smaller in diameter whenever I need that.
