I tested the Waveshare Industrial USB to 8CH Serial TTL Converter with Windows 11.Without the driver, it was recognized as a multiple serial device but with a missing driver.The driver is easily found on the Waveshare wiki site and installed with no problems.Plugging in the device mysteriously disconnected my wireless mouse, but unplugging the mouse dongle and plugging it back in was enough for all to be fine.Now the Device Manager showed 8 new com ports 8 through 15.I had no problem using them with PuTTY and serial comm programs written in Delphi that I had used before.I like the availability of hardware RTS/CTS giving 8 parallel channels for controlling DIY devices.Loopback of the serial tested that all was good.I like the LEDs showing transmitted and received data. Reasssuring. And it was very kind of them to put the color codes for the 8x 6 pins right on the top of the box.The protection circuitry is also appreciated given the application to hardware that may be experimental. Onboard resettable fuse and protection diodes, ensure the current/voltage stable outputs, provide over-current/over-voltage proof, improving shockproof performance. Onboard TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor), effectively suppresses surge voltage and transient spike voltage in the circuit, lightningproof & anti-electrostatic.A well designed and useful addition to a toolkit for hardware experimentation.Although I used it with Windows, Raspberry Pi drivers are available.Recommended.

This is a nicely-constructed unit that provides 8 solid channels of TTL-level serial communications. It's great if you have multiple hosts (like a couple of Raspberry PI or similar) that need console hosts.The only problem is that the CH348L chip isn't supported by Apple, and so you cannot run this with native utilities like Serial or Terminal. There is a free utility on the App store called WCHSerialPort that allows you to connect to the box and exercise it, but that's not a replacement for real drivers. WCH Microelectronics -- maker of the CH348L -- hopes to get Apple to allow driver development but for the moment, you're limited to Linux or Windows.The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars because of the lack of claimed MacOS support; otherwise, it's a fine serial solution and worthy of a 5-star rating.

I had to grab a driver from Waveshare's site but once the driver was installed all 8 serial ports showed up simultaneously in the device manager. I like that this TTL has RTS/CTS, most do not. That said, with the included adapter attached it does look and feel like a bunch of colorful spaghetti :)Overall this works well and if you need this many serial ports at once (or want to experiment/test with loopback) then this is a good option.

Windows 11 erkennt den Schrott nicht mal und der Treiber von dieser WAVESHARE Seite funktioniert auch nicht..Einfach nur Müll 😡

Der TTL Converter wird benutzt, um diverse Geräte oder Chips per UART anzusprechen. Getestet habe ich es unter Windows 11, mit einem hc08 Bluetooth Modul, später auch mit einer älteren FritzBox. Unter Windows lief der Converter sofort, die Treiber wurden vermutlich automatisch durch Windows installiert. Cool. Man konnte die Geräte direkt ansprechen, alles hat funktioniert wie es sollte. Das Kabel, was dem Converter beigelegt ist, hat 8x4 Dupond Kabel ausgeleitet, die zur besseren Erkennbarkeit der Anschlüsse farbig markiert sind (vcc, gnd, rx, tx). Ich finde diese Lösung besser als die Standard USB uart converter, die immer super flimsig anzustecken sind. Hier hat man eine solide Metallbox, wo man auch mal etwas mehr wackeln kann ohne gleich seine Verbindung zu kappen.Sehr gut.
