This is a great way to 'up' your presentation for video, and might put people at ease if just recording audio. It's a simple idea - slip your wireless lav microphone into the end, put one of the (unfortunately named) dead cats on and you end up with what looks like a normal interview/presentation microphone, which is something we're all used to seeing and looks much more professional than holding a tiny microphone up to someone. The included microphone ID cube flag 'thing' is optional; if I use it I think I'll add the classic HTV Cymru Wales logo for my own amusement (I'm easily amused).The handle extends 20cm which isn't too much but probably far enough. Weirdly the bottom of the handle has a tripod screw mount; if you used that it would be sticking straight up in the air which I can't imagine helping!It's easy to use and looks good when you're using it. My only hold-up is that it's a bit expensive (currently £30) which is twice the price of the microphone set I'm using it with! That being said, I know full well I'm using very cheap kit. The build is good though, and I'd trust a higher-end lav with this as well.

I do a couple of on-the-street style shoots about twice a month, and I’ve been using this style of mic holder for a while now. But this one is different—it’s not just another lapel to handheld mic converter. One of the locations I shoot at has guests seated in chairs, and I’ve been trying to avoid having someone holding a guest mic appear in the shot. This mic stick finally gives me the ability to do that more effectively than before.I’ll likely be hooking one of my regular lapel mics into my PA setup going forward, since this mic stick is going to be a new permanent part of my kit.
