Great was bought to mount nebula laser 3 from ceiling in camper van. Fantastic value

I have only had this ball head for a couple of days and cannot make up my mind about it! It feels solid and looks to be well-made, but my dislikes outweigh my likes.For a start, it came without any instructions and a search on the web did not reveal any. To be honest, it can be used without instructions, but there is one knob on the base of the unit that I cannot work out what it does (see photos). All I can think of is that it can be screwed out to allow a couple of drops of oil to be put in. The other two knobs lock the ball (large knob) and lock the azimuth ring (small knob).The knob on the top part of the unit locks the quick release plate, that connects to the bottom of the camera, in place.Opposite the knob is a spirit level that is not at all helpful. The bubble snaps into the centre of the circle when the plate is about 5° from being level.The last thing I do not like about this ball head is that I would prefer levers to knobs, but it is small and easy to carry about.

A marvellous medium-sized ball head which I very quickly put to use to solve an irritating locking problem. The double-locking wheels work together to lock this head perfectly! Rock solid. And by just slightly releasing one knob, there is enough resistance for detailed fine-tuning of a composition that absolutely stays in place when tightening the knob to lock it. Great piece of kit. Very pleased with it.Quality is reassuring and I see no reason why it shouldn't last. I like it a whole lot as it's made my tripod photography much better without the droop-problem.

This is a well made tripod ball head which comes complete with an Arca Swiss type mounting and plate.The tighten / loosen knobs are a good size and have rubber grips. There are two that hold the ball in place when tightened, a small one and a larger one. This is good as it means the ball is held securely even with a heavy camera and lens set up and I found it will easily hold my 2kg Canon set up in any position.It has a std 3/8” thread in the bottom with a 3/8” to 1/4” adaptor included.There’s a small knob close to the bottom of the mount which locks or loosens the rotating mount that is nicely marked with degrees on a contrasting red ring.It has to small bubble spirit levels to make it easy to get everything level.I considered a good quality ball mount like this to be an essential bit of kit for any serious photographer.

However, while the locking knob secures the ball head effectively, it could benefit from a sturdier design for a more reassuring grip, especially when using heavier equipment.
