If like me you are frustrated by a lack of optical output on the PS5, then this is a cheap and simple solution. After a bit of research I discovered that not all USB DACs will work with the PS5 as it doesn't support the latest UAC2 standard, being limited to the older UAC1 protocol. So for instance, my Fiio K3 DAC isn't recognised by the PS5. So I went looking for an alternative and found this. Although it's marketed for the Raspberry Pi, it works perfectly with the PS5. As a bonus it also incorporates a headphone output. All this for less than a tenner (although you'll need to factor in a USB A > USB B cable if you haven't already got one). I paired it with a 3D printed case that I downloaded from thingiverse (see picture) and now have optical audio from my PS5!

Pros: Works as a USB to SPDIF converter, the thing I bought it for. It's probably not as good as one that uses an XMOS chip the price differential is significant.Cons: It's a bare board. You have to mount it in some way.I have a DAC board that only takes SPDIF input. I bought it realizing I was going to need a USB to SPDIF converter. I didn't realize they could be be expensive. The DAC was sold at a steep discount and I found that I could easily spend more on the converter than I had on the DAC. I figured I'd give a 2704 converter a try. It works fine for my application, which is getting USB audio from my phone or tablet. As a DAC/amp it works like you'd expect an under $10 device to work. As a converter it's better. I realize that most people have no need for a converter like this because almost every DAC has a USB input these days. For those who do, and don't have hyper-critical audiophile requirements, this is a good deal.
