A really useful saw for cutting dowels and cutting flush to a surface. It's a pull saw and needs to be used with care to prevent the blade bending.

Flexible enough to flush cut at almost any angle and doesn't stay bent at all. Very sharp which helps with fine cuts.

I have a number of pull saws but this is the one with the thinnest kerf and it's excellent for quick accurate cuts. The TPI is lower than other Zona saws so only light pressure is needed otherwise you risk catching or ripping, plus of course care is needed on the push stroke. When used correctly it's a mean little saw, it'll tear through hardwood, leaving a clean edge and barely a trace it was ever there. The handle is comfortable and ideally suited to this style of sawing. I have on occasion used it as a flush cut saw and it performs excellently but mostly I use it for segmented wood work where a spined razor saw won't quite cut right through and it performs excellently. Five stars, it's a very handy tool to have around.

The same saw is available at a full pound extra elsewhere on Amazon, where curiously it was garnering a higher rating, demonstrating the vagaries of the rating system on the platform. Regarding this one (man. Hobbycraft), I can only say that this is my first experience with flush-cutting saws, and it has met my needs admirably. I've been using it to flush cut oak dowels that I have made to fill holes on an oak pew that I have been working on, and the results have been very good. The saw operates on the pull stroke (as advertised), and the blade is satisfyingly flexible to allow for a level cut. I have not experienced any atmospheric oxidisation of the blade. I suppose the moral is, to lightly oil the blade after use if you are worried about such things.A word of caution though. In this age of Avacado Hand, the Modelcraft/Zona packaging does describe the item as a 'HIgh Quality Zona Razor Saw'. The clue is in the wording, 'Razor'. This baby is sharp! It could be described as, "The plaster manufacturers friend", cutting through the skin of my index finger with ease and minimal contact! That'll teach me to pay greater regard to labelling!I can see this saw coming in very handy in the construction of a long-overdue doll's house that I have been making.A very good item, and an excellent saw for small jobs and modelmaking. It is not a heavy duty saw for dealing with door jambs and the like, so if you are looking for one of those then I would look elsewhere.
