Came as advertised, was clean, no flaws in the pages or cover. arrived quickly. Overall pretty happy, plus it was a pretty solid book. For me Da Big Dakka was a 5/5 book, so this one probably hits a solid 4/5 in comparison to the other Warhammer books I have read.

I have long hoped for a novel featuring Lelith Hesperax, her wych cult, and the various denizens of Commarragh. But this novel has surpassed my hopes. The involvement of the Ynnari and Harlequins is am added bonus. MORE PLEASE!!!

This is a rough read. The plot is basic and pretty much revealed within the first third of the book. Most of the rest is Lilith’s monologuing, and even she admits that she’s no great thinker. Little new lore for enthusiasts, weak characterization for the protagonist and a central conflict that’s resolved too easily, too fast. Waste of time.

I was really looking forward to this since it was first announced as I am a massive Drukhari Fan and Lelith is my favorite character in 40K. Sadly I was really disappointed, perhaps because I had such high hopes. After reading Path of the Dark Eldar by Andy Chambers, I think this book failed to capture the evilness and depravity of the Drukhari that the former managed so well. The story is short and the plot is thin, in fact the only surprise was that this is a Drukhari story about friendship (or maybe love if Drukhari are capable). I was expecting some graphic and brutal conflicts, as well as some tantalising descriptions of Lelith and her wyches in action, but came away disappointed on both accounts. I do hope it is not the last time we get a Lelith book but I hope next time that she stays in character.

Nice to see a 40k book from a dark elves perspective. It's similar to the Drizzt feel if you're into that as well but more 40k ish. Lots of intrigue and murder, would definitely read more. Although it felt lacking in some areas so only 4 stars.
