I have another NVMe SSD drive housing which works fine, but this one has extra features which I consider very useful. For one thing it has a write-protect switch as a defense against accidentally writing to the drive, if the contents need to be preserved or protected. It has a 'super capacitor' which is like a short-term battery; when fully charged it provides the drive with power for about ten seconds to write to memory the data in the buffer. So if there is an unexpected power failure, the drive won't lose data that is in process of being written to it. I believe this would also protect the integrity of the data if you were to disconnect it without 'ejecting' it first to clear the buffers. It seems like basically the same situation to me, either way, and the super capacitor is for that purpose.I'm a bit puzzled that when I connect the it to my PC, Windows indicates that it detects the device and the drive installed in it, but I also get a message about 'Display connection might be limited'; this may have something to do with using this device with a laptop or tablet, but I am using it with a PC and that seems to not be of concern. There are two other USB C ports, on the side of the housing. One is labeled USB and the is labeled PD. The USB port can be used to connect a keyboard or other non-data device; the PD can be used for charging another device or I found it can also be used to daisy-chain another drive. I don't know if I'd do that as a normal thing, but I found that it does work. Some additional points: The bottom of the drive housing has a nifty sketch of the internal circuit board and indicates where the side-located ports are, so you have a second way to locate them besides the tiny markings by each. There is a QR code in the instruction pamphlet for viewing a web tutorial on enabling the write-cache of the drive to get the max performance; the website is a bit confusing but I was able to find the correct video to show how to enable the cache. The drive housing is held closed by four tiny torx-head screws, and a suitable small torx driver is included. You'll want to be sure to not lose that... or else maybe replace the screws in the first place with something like Philips heads. In all, this is a useful device with some features that provide flexibility which could come in handy!

External SSDs aren't your old flash drives - they combine high speeds (VERY high compared to old flash drives) with large capacities. They can also be a bit pricey - BUT if you have an extra internal NVMe SSD sitting around from an upgrade or outgoing laptop - or you find a great deal on one, you can use an enclosure like this to make your own external SSD.This particular enclosure has some nice value-added extra features. Of course, the basics are all there - it's easy to install your choice of up to a 2280 sized NVMe SSD (capacity is up to you - drives are available in up to 8TB size - not included of course) and you get GREAT speeds. The included heat pad (you want a drive without a heat sink so it will fit) helps keep the drive cooler (the casing can get warm depending on what drive you use and if you write to it in long sustained bursts). Beyond that though, you also get the ability to pass through power (up to 100W PD) which is useful if you have a device that only has one high speed USB-C port for both power and data (like some handhelds or mini PCs) so you can plug the power adapter into the drive and then the drive into the device and get both power and storage. The drive also uses that power to charge a small capacitor which then allows it to ensure that all writes are completed safely even if the drive is unplugged unexpectedly. But the extra features continue. You also get a second lower speed USB-C port to connect other devices in a daisy chain (perhaps a keyboard, mouse or webcam) so the drive can almost act as a mini hub. And you get a useful "switch" on the side of the drive that allows you to turn off "writes" to the drive so you can make sure your valuable files stay safe (it turns the drive into a "read only" drive so it protects against the files being overwritten / corrupted, but they can still be read). So there you have it - a great enclosure that's SO much more as well. And it all works just like it should - plug and play with Windows 11 (depending on the format you put on the drive inside, of course). So if you're in the market for a nice external SSD enclosure, give this one a try today!

this ssd enclosure has been great for transferring large files. it fits the drive securely, and the usb c connection works immediately without any lag or setup. the transfer speeds are excellent, handling video files and high-resolution images efficiently.the enclosure is made of sturdy material that doesn’t feel fragile, and the compact design makes it easy to carry around. the ports are tight and don’t wiggle when the cable is plugged in. the write-protect switch is one of its standout features—it prevents accidental overwriting of important files, which has been very useful. it’s a well-thought-out product that performs exactly as expected.

I picked up this drive because I had an extra SSD left over after upgrading my Steam Deck. The SSD installation was super easy, and I really appreciate the design and build quality. The drive stays cool even during long write and read sessions, which is impressive. The 100W PD passthrough feature is a great addition – I can charge my laptop while juggling other devices without hogging all my USB-C ports. Plus, the supercapacitor ensures that my data isn’t lost if I accidentally unplug it before the writing process is completed. While using it with my PC, I occasionally got a message about “Display connection might be limited.” It’s nothing major, but it’s a bit odd. The included USB-C ports offer flexibility, but I had limited luck daisy-chaining additional devices.I’m happy with the Hagibis M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure! It's perfect for anyone looking to give new life to an old NVMe SSD or just wants a little extra storage.Pros:- Excellent passive cooling and no thermal throttling that I found- 100W PD passthrough for charging devices with one USB-C port- Supercapacitor protects against errant power drops and potential data loss- Easy installation and solid build qualityCons:- Occasional “Display connection might be limited” message when connecting to a PC- Daunting daisy-chain feature may not be useful for everyone- Small screws can be hard to manage, and the torx driver is easy to misplace

NVME cases come in all shapes and sizes these days. It's getting to a point where it's super personalized to your style. This particular case is very much my style. This is a white case with a printed design on the outside to make it look like chips and transistors. It connects via USB-C, and it has 100W passthrough power, meaning you can charge your device and have this connected as well. It also has a write protection switch if you want to make it read-only. It comes with a heat distribution pad to dissipate heat through the aluminum top shell. It also has outage protection, but I can't test this, but it's nice to have and I hope it works when it has to.Overall, this will be great for the latest NVME drives that can do up to 10Gbps transfer speeds. Recommended.
