I love the look of this off-camera flash. The easy to deploy fan reflector, and the included support bar, taken together, look FANTASTIC on my series of pro-level DSLR's.As a flash, though, it's just ok. The flash is certainly powerful enough. However, if you are looking for automatic features, like TTL, or HSS, you have to buy another device, and that's gonna set you back between $60 and $100 (such as the X3-S).The flash kit comes with a sync cord, but all that does, like all sync cords, is synchronize the flash with the shutter of the firing camera. That's ok, as I'm a pro photographer, and know how to operate a camera and flash in manual, but there are also many times when I just want to shoot quickly, and for this, TTL is invaluable. Problem is, TTL is unavailable unless you buy a camera-make-specific wireless transmitter from GODOX. I even purchased a GODOX hotshoe cable, and while this allows you to shoot the flash in something paradoxically called "Automatic", when you do this the flash will not allow you to select ISO any higher than 100, which is just not good enough.Shooting in the daytime, and for fill flash, High-Speed-Sync (HSS) can also come in handy, but once again, that is not an option. The reflector pivots from straight ahead to upwards, and it produces a relatively soft light. There are modifiers available for this dish also but I haven't invested in any of these. The unit is chargeable via the included USB-C cable and I have found it can easily handle more than 100 flash cycles, and will probably go substantially further. So, as a novelty, or a completely manual flash, this is a neat product. I've used it on some assignments, and it sure gets attention, and it does do a decent job. I may someday buy the wireless trigger, but for now, this flash resides in my flash cabinet, and my old, trusty, Canon 580EX remains my go-to flash.Recommended but with serious reservations.

This flash unit is so retro. I probably didn’t this need one but I wanted one because it’s very cool looking. Coming from different Godox flash units from V1, V1pro as well as AD200 units, this is more retro oriented flash that reminds me of the bare bulb flash of old as well as the Metz CL series. Kit includes the flash, USB cable, reflector, base bar, sync cable, velvety case and user manual.Flash has a built-in battery and depending on your usage, that may be a plus or minus. In my case, it works fine as full charge seems to last more than 300 flashes (TTL so not full) and still have around 50% battery life left. If you’re using full power, it’s rated to last about 460 flashes so you’ll need to plan ahead as the battery is not replaceable and it takes around 2 hours to charge.Flash bulb is recessed and is covered by protective cover. Once you remove the cover and press the red button, it’ll pop out. You can mount the metal reflector to maximize the light output. Flash head tilts but does not swivel which isn’t too much of a negative. Best of all this supports Godox wireless triggers and if you have the newer X3, it syncs almost automatically. It also supports X2T triggers and while it’s not automatic as the X3, it’s a standard config to connect the units. You can also use the PC sync terminal if you want to go truly retro or use older camera but you’ll lose the modern features offered by the trigger. It has a nice interface, similar to the one on X3 triggers to set up the flash if you want to set up the flash unit itself. It’s a very modern flash with retro flair that supports TTL, High Speed sync and other features when you use the Godox trigger. If you have a truly retro camera, this will work with the sync cable and you have the flexibility to adjust the flash as you need it on the touchscreen. It’s a fabulous flash unit that’s truly universal. Highly recommended!

So I took this flash on a photoshoot, and since I already had everything set up, I took the time to take some pictures of this flash unit. With that said, I think this is more flashy than it is practical. The folding fan-type reflector is a too flimsy for my liking and you have to treat it delicately in my opinion.Nevertheless, it still incorporates a fancy touchscreen that makes the flash a whole lot easier to use.Something to keep in mind is that you do need a flash trigger such as the Godox X3 so there's that.Overall, recommended for it's fun and unique design. Although, I don't find myself using this for client work.

I own so many flashes, yet it's flashes like these that genuinely bring me joy. With the included bracket installed under the bottom of my camera and connected to the flash, it really feels like I'm a old-timey photography in the way that it's held. Sometimes, I forget that you have to pop out the bulb or the flash won't work, but that's kind of a minor inconvenience, as having the bulb recessed in when not in use keeps it better protected. It does come with a little plastic cover but I immediately lost it.One bad thing about this flash is that it doesn't have much angular flexibility - you can really only turn it a full 45 degrees up or straight. When turned up, the "fan" around the bulb limits the range of the lighting ( at least I think so), as the lighting doesn't look as good. So this is really more for a straight-shot flash, or via remote, in which it can be connect to a wireless transmitter for off-angle shots.I actually use the flash directly connected to my camera via the PC sync terminal, which works brilliantly. The interface is fine, probably way more functions than I would actually need, but it's nice and crisp. Remove the plastic film or it'll feel slow and sluggish otherwise.

I really like it. Good battery time, nice big and quite soft light. And it is eye catching compared to my other professional speedlights that I use. I mounted it to the left of the camera with the plate and connect it to the flash port with the cable and have it on manual control. It is a fun gear and tou can create great photos especially candid shots.
