This is an interesting router bit that has a replaceable carbide insert. I have seen many bits with square inserts but never one of this type before. The bit is 1/4" shank diameter and relatively simple. The shank is straight but not super polished. The head has a bolt hole for a hex bolt to hold the carbide insert. Other than that it is pretty simple. Don't spin it without the insert as you'll have a weight imbalance... the head is designed for the weight of the carbide insert.I'm not sure how expensive the replacement carbide inserts are, but this type of bit should be cost effective over its life. Will update after some use.

SainSmart offers this excellent cutter for $31.99, however they don't sell the replaceable carbide inserts. The good news is that it wasn't hard to find a supplier that does.I've always liked tools that you can maintain rather than throw away. I have a smaller solid carbide 60 degree bit that is basically worn out, this one will hopefully last a lifetime. It comes with a T20 key so carbide replacement is easy. The test cuts I've made so far lets me know that this is a good solid performer. Recommend
