Nice and beefy, just the right amount of attack and sustain on this snare head.

This head is brilliant if you, like me, seem to spend ages tuning your snare batter head and end up having to cover it in Moongel anyway!The reverse dot in the centre has absolutely no detrimental effect on rebound, and gives the head a nice fat backbeat while dampening overtones. Similarly, if you give this head a decent rimshot, it has an inimitable crack to it. As one of the Bassists I play with once put it: "That backbeat has authority". At the same time, if a song comes up in your set which could use some overtones, playing the snare off-centre provides a well balanced amount of overtones without a ridiculous amount of sustain.In addition, this is one of the most durable snare heads I have ever played, and really brings out the best in any snare drum you own. I have a decent but fairly low budget maple snare drum that has always sounded pretty good but suffered terribly from excessive overtones. Moon gel helped somewhat but the ringing was still apparent so when the last head (Remo Coated Ambassador) needed replacing I decided to make the change to an Evans Power Center. It was a good decision as this head has transformed my snare completely. All the excessive ringing has gone (there is still some ringing as to be expected with a cheap drum) and I can now play the drum with or without moon gel. Another considerable benefit is the power centre provides a loud focused crack that enhances accents without removing the subtlety of ghost notes.
