I use it for making game boards. Works much better than a straight flush trim bit.

I purchased this spiral bit over the Whiteside competitor, saving $12.00 ($80 vs $94). Was hoping to avoid the tear out that came from a straight bit on my router table with. 1.75” table leg This bit grabbed the workpiece and threw it back the first time I used it. I tried using it as carefully as possible. The bit grabbed & threw the workpiece repeatedly. Only after I recut with the band saw closer to the line than normal did I avoid kickback. On end grain it was treacherous. Is this operator error? Maybe. But if so, no one other than the most experienced workers should use this bit. Sending it back tomorrow!

The spiral bit worked well only used on P T wood.As noted different grains may leave fuzzy finish with the grain was fine.I cut down to the line with band sawn leaving 1/16 for router clean up

Spend the money! Don’t fool around with any other bits if you are a luthier. This baby cuts super smooth and has a 2” cut length. This is what you need for the outside of the body. It doesn’t try to grab and throw the wood like the standard straight flute bit. Wish I would have bought this sooner. Get off the fence and get this thing. Seriously!

I use this bit to cut the final dimensions of guitar bodies from templates. It cuts very well with no tear out. I’ve used this on ash, limba, mahogany, and hard maple with no problems. Excellent quality cutter
