Converted straight fork frame to take a tapered long travel air forks for mountain bike. Once it was rubber malleted into place it is solid and works a treat. Very smooth and excellent quality.

Purchased for my GT Avalanche 2.0 after lots of research. Was still unsure until I installed it. It fits perfectly and I was able to use a tapered fox float fork. My old headset and fork were straight 1 1/8. I had grease the race and tap it into the fork. Some hairspray and a wood block with a hammer carefully tapped the headset in. Looking back, although it worked, I was lucky not to bend the headset. I'd recommend taking it to your LBS to install carefully with a headset press tool. The headset itself is AMAZING. Buttery smooth. I never thought anything good or bad about the old headset I had until I saw and installed this one. It's fancy. Nice engineering. Who would have thought.I recommend the 40 series to anyone looking for a good headset.Make sure you read the specs and measure your frame with the old headset out.

You can get better bearings for a quarter of the price, this whole piece is very hard to put into the steerer and will require a press.

Sehr passgenaues und robustes Teil. Ein Stern Abzug da sich die Imbusschraube schnell ausgenudelt hat, aber sowas sollte jeder Schrauber rumliegen haben.

This is the headset to convert your bike to a tapered fork from 1 18. This creates significantly more rigidity and opens your options to modern forks. This headset will probably require you to cut it to mount the bottom bearings flush. Don't let that cut deter your purchase as this is a phenomenal upgrade for your bike. There is a scored line on the bottom insert that if followed with a dremel or hacksaw will remove 3mm leaving 5mm behind. The normal depth of a headtube bearing seat. In my pics you will see the outcome along with the tools need to remove and install a headset...all that cost less than $10 to make..combined, outside of the dremel. Buy it!!!! You won't regret it!
