I used it in the mailbox, but it is too slow to registrate movement when the box is opened. But if used with extern switch it works

I bought this sensor for use with my z-stick gen5 and home assistant. Configuration was straightforward. I encountered the issue reported in another review, where the sensor exhibited a 2-seconds delay on reporting the door open. I contacted Aeotec support about it and promptly got an answer, explaining that for the fastest response I should have disabled the tilt sensor. Once I did that, the sensor reported door opening instantaneously. So I'm happy that I got what I need. Helpful product support and firmwares publicly available (unlike some other brand) are positive differentiators.

I bought the first sensor to try this on my new home automation and security project.It seamed to work on the test bench, but after a few days it started to appear offline and the only communications that I could got out of it was when being 20cm from the hub (also aeotec).Meanwhile I bought a second one, and while the same problem could not be replicated I couldn't get it to work with the flat magnet.I reach out to aeotec support that promptly answered me, and it was a long email conversation back and forth with no solutions to my problems.With all the back and forth I missed the window to return the items, and the support engineer said that this is to be managed thru amazon...I bought other similar sensors, but 8n paper I like this product features more (ipen/close, tilt motion, tamper... And their are the smallest that I have seen).Unfortunately did not proved to be has reliable has it should be.

I bought this sensor because it's one of the few rated to work at freezing temperatures. I wanted to mount it to the door of my mailbox. But I won't.Firstly, this may be the most complicated sensors I ever bought. Maybe it's due to being Z-Wave, but there are so many parameters and options to setup. And hardly any are properly explained in the manual (have a look yourself). And although I'm not a complete amateur when it comes to home automation, this is well above my skill level. Yes, a simple sensor with a magnet seems to be above my skill level... Maybe it's aimed at professionals. Or maybe the person who wrote the manual had a different audience in mind.Secondly, and what makes it unusable to me, after I did get it set up (in Homey) it was sooo slow to respond. Not just the notification on my phone from Homey, but even the sensor LED itself came to life only about 2 to 3 seconds after the trigger. To put some mail in my mailbox takes less time than that, so this sensor will not detect when something quickly opens and closes. It only works for things that stay open for at least 3 seconds. And also: the tilt sensor doesn't detect when it gets tilted slowly. Only when it gets tilted quickly enough.So... maybe I'll find a use for this sensor some day, but for my mailbox I will use an Aqara sensor (cheaper as well) that's also supposed to work at low temperatures. It doesn't detect tilt, but it's simple and responds very quickly to its magnet. And that's what I needed.
