I am soldering copper pipes in tight places and saw this blanket on a youtube video. I usually protect flammable materials like floor joists with bits of gypsum board, but wanted to get this for when I was close to other pipes or in places too awkward to use pieces of gypsum board. I really wanted this blanket to work. But, on my very first use, this fireproof blanket caught on fire on the edge. I am trying to keep the heat on the pipe because it is just about hot enough, but this flaming blanket was producing smoke and fire that was darkening the wood of the nearby joist. What is the point of using the blanket if the edges burn? Waste of money.

Poor quality. Can burn through it with a plumbing torch in about 5 seconds. Don't waist your money and time. Spend the extra for some rothenberger or Monument tools that last for years

Do not buy! It literally caught fire when I used it the first time.
