The style of snap caps delivered is not what was pictured in the ad. I have the type that was pictured in other calibers, and that was what I wanted. They are shaped like a real cartridge. The type that are shaped like a real cartridge are great, not only for dry fire practice, but also for practicing reloading from a speed strip or a speed loader with a revolver. The ones I received are OK for dry fire, but they have a squared off top and are not suited for practicing smooth loading from speed strips or speed loaders. They hang up when practicing reloading, whereas the type shaped like a real cartridge go into the chambers more easily. I'm not going to return them, but I wish the ad had been more accurate.

Product seems to conform to its description, but is frustrating as delivered. Fortunately, there is an easy DIY solution.Snap Caps are loose in chamber, so dry firing or pointing barrel upward can cause snap caps to fall back against the frame and interfere with the cylinder advance mechanism.A single layer of magic mending tape around the snap cap seems to keep it snug in the cylinder so that it does not slide back and jam the mechanism. Now it is a 5-star snap cap.Time will tell how long this "fix" will last, but at least it should be rather easy to remove and replace tape.

I bought these snap caps for testing function on a revolver. (Chiappa Rhino 200DS)They work well for the purpose of preventing damage to the firing mechanism during dry-firing. The pin does leave a divot on the brass stopper (for lack of better term) so it's clear they are absorbing energy that would otherwise get transferred to places the revolver may not be able to handle. One minor point to be aware of for your own use is they fit a little loosely in a .357 Magnum cylinder and do tend to interfere with the cylinder rotating. For testing I used one snap cap and cycled through all six chambers individually, moving the snap cap each time. Loading all six and working the action caused enough resistance that both hammer draw or trigger draw wouldn't turn the cylinder. Pointing downwards helped a little but didn't fix the problem. I may experiment with a little lube or by sanding the edges a bit (the corner is 90 degree angle plastic not rounded brass). As a tool to safely work your revolver without risking damage these work wonderfully. Just be aware they are not identical to an actual casing and may not accurately reflect how the revolver will function with real, live rounds in it.
