** Update**Unfortunately, the clock has stopped working properly after only a couple of weeks and has been returned to Amazon . Once the alarm is set, the alarm icon in the display will disappear and then it'll switch off the alarm function and revert to the time display after around 1 minute, which means that the alarm will not function at all. This happened the first time I had to set the alarm for an early start the following morning and fortunately, I found this out when I tested the alarm the night before! It's a shame as its an otherwise excellent clock.*********I really like this alarm clock. It has a large display with the time being very easy to see at first glance. The clock also displays the day, month, day of the week and temperature. With the press of a button, it can also be made to show the time in some of the main time zone cities around the world.Despite the hopeless instructions (written in a tiny font....) I found the clock easy to set up and very similar to others I have owned in the past. Pressing the 'set' button cycles through the displayed year, time, date, day etc. and these can be adjusted by pressing the buttons marked with the 'up' and 'down' symbols. These buttons share their function with the ones used to change between 12/24 hour formats and also celsius and fahrenheit. The 'mode' button cycles between 'clock' and 'alarm clock' displays.To set the alarm time , press the 'mode' button until the alarm symbol is displayed, then press the 'set' button to highlight the alarm time. Set the desired time using the up and down buttons. The large number you can see relates to the number of the tune the alarm will play when it activates. There are 8 available, including two (thankfully....) 'normal' alarm sounds and also 6 other tunes including 'Auld Lang Syne,' 'Happy Birthday' and 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas.' I have absolutely no idea what the other three tunes are....... Exit the alarm function by pressing the mode button again. Make sure the alarm symbol is displayed on the screen if you want the alarm to activate at the time you just set. Otherwise, make sure that the clock symbol is displayed if you don't.....The backlight (2 blue LEDs on each side of the screen) can be activated by either pressing the round button marked 'light/sleep' on the back of the clock, or by touching the clock itself, tapping the table or snoring loudly.......It is quite sensitive though however, there is a button on the rear of the clock marked 'S/C' which is used to switch the backlight sound activation function on or off; a nice touch in itself.I bought the black coloured clock. It's finished in satin black which gives it less of a cheap feeling and to be honest, isn't better or worse looking than any other digital bedside alarm clock I've owned. The display angle is spot on and may be easily seen when sitting up or lying down in bed (the large display size definitely helps!)I did find that the plastic stand did slide a bit on the wooden bedside table but I fitted some small adhesive rubber feet to the base of the stand, which cured the problem.In summary, it's a great clock which surpassed my expectations and I'd definitely recommend it.
