Long cuts through 3" logs with no wandering

I purchased these blades as a twin pack, and I fitted one of them today. However once fitted I tried cutting a piece of wood and to my disappointment i found that it wasn’t very sharp and I had to but what i would describe as excessive force to get it to cut. The wood in question was a 2”x2” piece of dry spalted birch which i would have expected this new blade to cut through like a hot knife through butter as the saying goes.

As a newcomer to band saw use I found it difficult to get a straight cut without the blade wandering even after checking it was all set up correctly. The blade supplied with the new saw was quite narrow (3.6mm) ok for cutting curves etc.This new blade at 9.5mm is perfect, no more drifting when cutting with the grain. Just take it easy and don't try to force the blade to work.
