I have been experimenting with jazz picks for a number of years now. I think I have finally come to the conclusion that the Dunlop Stubby 3.0mm is the one for me. When I'm alternate picking or string skipping, I feel the thickness of this pick and the size of it is just right. Of course practice is as much to do with it, but if you're taking your playing seriously enough, then you really should be doing your research when it comes to pick choice. I do have reviews of other picks Jazz picks so if you want to jump back in time and check them out, feel free as I have definitely done my research. The standard Dunlop Jazz III was a good starting point, but the John Petrucci jazz picks were too long in my opinion. I actually discovered these picks were right for me through purchasing an assortment of different jazz picks which I also think I wrote a review for, maybe that would be worth purchasing if you're really keen to investigate what picks click with you.
