Faber-Castell has a masterpiece in the Essentio. After a few days of intermittent writing, the nib went from good, though a tad scratchy, to buttery smooth; it's just at good upside down, too. The grip is perfect, the diameter of the barrel right between slim and large, while the beautiful color's matte finish remains smudge-free.I love it. While there is no accounting for taste (normally, I gravitate toward the heft of a brass pen over something this feather-light) I cannot imagine what about it would disappoint.Great value for the money. There are excellent, functional fountain pens available at a fraction of the cost, but nothing I've seen that competes with the Essentio in it's own price range.

Writes well! I can't make gaps in the line by going to fast. And I can leave it for a week without using it and it instantly writes when I go to use it again. Consistent line width and Ink lay down. I use Pelikan 4001 royal blue ink with it. I love this pen.

Definitely one step up for me. I've been writing in dark blue using an FC "broad" nib before so this is quite different ("EF" using black Quink) at the other end of the spectrum. First impressions were that it was scratchy but as you write more, you can tell it's definitely not. It's just putting much less ink on the page. With much less surface area and so less friction on the paper, this pen glides mores easily over the paper meaning more of your hand writing style is expressed (for better or worse). I found that mood and speed degrade readability more than for FC's broad nib. When I slow down and try to establish a rhythm between of the speed of half height components of letters vs the forward speed of my hand (smoothing out curves) the results are simply spectacular. I love using this pen and will adopt it's use in the office now.

La penna e` meravigliosa, scrive magnificamente, scorre bene. Tratto fino come piace a me. Il vero problema, come accade per molte penne sopratutto di metallo, e` il grip del corpo della penna. E` secondo me troppo scivolosa. L'effetto satinato e le "righe" sulla parte verso la punta non aiutano molto a correggere questo effetto. Un vero peccato.

I'm kinda thrilled to have found it.First, this is a sturdy pen with subdued good looks and a rock solid clicking mechanism. For those who tend not to lose their pens, it should last a very long time.This pen takes the Fisher Space refill using the included adapter. I have one installed and it does not affect the efficiency of the clicker at all. The grooves in the grip area provide a confident grip for all writing conditions. Unlike rubber, they will never wear out. The substantial aluminum tube of the body is one piece for most of its length and unscrews in only one place near the point, to change refills. The pen with refill weighs just shy of an ounce.Criticisms:The spring would be less likely to be lost if it was permanently contained.The clip grips well but a more flared shape would make it less hard on shirt pockets.But these are minor criticisms. I highly recommend this pen.

Faber-Castell 148422 penna stilografica Essentio in alluminio rose, pennino EF. La valutazione complessiva è davvero buona, si tratta di una penna ben bilanciata, temevo il peso ma nonostante il fusto in metallo non stanca; il grip è ben assicurato, il pennino è davvero ottimo, scrive subito ed è scorrevolissimo, però anche se nominalmente si tratta di un EF, scrive ben più abbondante di un vero extra-fine. Menzione di DISonore per il cappuccio, piuttosto duro da togliere e mettere, e che a differenza del resto è in plastica: di sicuro una buona plastica, almeno spero (per la durata), ma è ben visibile la riga di fusione, e al tatto la sensazione di solidità non c'è, diversamente dal corpo della penna. Peccato. Nelle foto il colore sembra a volte rosa cipria, dal vivo è più un rosa antico molto elegante.
