I'm getting the full 2.5Gb link speed in both directions, and I can power the device via USB-C with enough current. I tried the trendnet brand at first, ended up with 2 units that both died within about 1 min of use. This one from DSLRKIT is way better. Learning now its not worth paying more for the brand when it comes to Amazon marketplace, the knockoffs do it better.

I bought this 2.5 Gbps POE splitter to attempt to power the Ubiquiti UCG-Max from the Ubiquiti USW-Pro-Max-16-POE switch. This switch only has four 2.5 Gbps ports, and all four of these ports support the POE++ (802.3bt) standard. After a little tinkering, I was able to power the UCG-Max (and the UXG-Max) via this POE splitter from the 2.5 Gbps / POE++ port on the USW-Pro-Max-16-POE switch and this switch connected to the UCG-Max with 2.5 Gbps. I can see this both in the Network Application and by looking at the port on the switch, as this switch colors the port LED blue with the port connects at 2.5 Gbps. The UCG-Max is shipped by Ubiquiti with a nice and thin Ethernet cable (with Etherlighting connecor), but, unfortunately, this cable doesn't seem to support 2.5 Gbps. So, if you buy this splitter, use a standard CAT5e (or better) cable between the switch port and the POE splitter and use another CAT5e (or better) cable between the splitter and the LAN port on the UCG-Max (or UXG-Max). Do NOT use the cable that ships with the UCG-Max (UXG-Max comes without a cable). Also, the yellow CAT5e cable that comes with this splitter supports 2.5 Gbps, so you can use it as one of the two Ethernet cables required for this splitter.
