This is a very sturdy and well-made box that assembles well. For the quality, it’s a good price.Getting the parts out of the shrink wrapping was a struggle and took a lot of cutting and pulling.I wanted a metal box for shielding my sensitive amplifier circuit board so as to minimise hum and other interference. The width was a perfect fit and allowed me to slide my circuit board along some grooves close to the bottom face. You can find a detailed cross section diagram with dimensions in the pictures.However the length of the box was too long so I wanted to cut some off. I don’t have a workshop so I used a vice and a 300mm hacksaw and unfortunately I blew it and made a distorted cut by cutting around a corner. You have to cut each face separately so the cuts are straight and be careful they join up. That is 3 cuts on the top half and 3 cuts on the bottom. By hand if you try and cut around a corner, the blade wanders even with a guide. The metal is quite thick so cutting is quite an effort. A new blade is best.When you have cut some of the length off you need some new screws for the ends because you just removed the threaded holes. I used small countersunk self-tapping screws successfully.Finally , the box is painted so if you earth the box at one point to minimise interference you probably are not earthing the whole box. With the end panels the self-tapping screws made the connection after I removed the paint from the countersunk holes. To earth the top and bottom I used a connecting wire attached to another pair of self tapping screws one in the top and one in the bottom.
