For anyone who still likes writing in a work diary this is brilliant! I'm on my 4/5th year of using and the page to view and the notes page is just brilliant for jotting things down and planning your busy day/week. The only downside is the paper and the cover are a little thing so it does become a little dog eared with daily use. Great value for money and great design.

I purchased the Collins A4 2025 Diary somewhat reluctantly, as it seemed to be the best option available. However, I’m still on the lookout for a better product.Collins makes a lot of diaries, so I hope they make one for people like me.What I Needed - Combined Diary and Notebook-------------------------------------------------------Diary Layout - I was looking for an A4 diary with a "week on one page" layout and space for notes on the opposite page.Ideally, I wanted the flexibility of a ring binder style (or similar), so I could combine my diary and notebook into one cohesive product.I could add pages as needed. Even say include printed pages. Right now, I’m using two separate items: an A4 diary and an A4 notebook. A combined solution would be far more convenient and flexible.Important - I wanted to able to flip it 360 degrees and for it to lay flat on a table. What I Like About the Collins A4 Diary--------------------------------------------Practical Design: The diary flips 360 degrees and lays completely flat, which is a significant advantage for usability.Lightweight: It’s thin and easy to carry. What I did n't like Collins A4 diary (Areas for Improvement)--------------------------------------------------------------------- The pages are printed in black ink, with no colours. Why no colours?- Page Layout: The diary pages does not include "tick" boxes. So I waste my time, drawing them in. This is important if you are check box fan, to tick off tasks which have been done. The left diary side is not lined/ruled, so his doesn’t work well for me, as my handwriting isn’t always steady or straight.- The notes side has thick lines, slightly fainter lined would be better.- Paper Quality: The paper suffers from bleed-through when using highlighters, which is disappointing for those who like to colour-code or emphasize entries.Diary Binding----------------Geek Info - The Collins diary uses a 34-ring double wiro-bound product. I like this wire binding. I am looking for any tricks to add more pages, so I could have that combined diary and notebook. The 34 holes, do no always line up with other 34 holes notebooks.Cost------I’ve been buying Collins diaries sporadically over the years. They used to cost around £3, but now the price ranges between £9 and £11. While the quality has not increased in line with the price.Other Products I’ve Tried or Considered-----------------------------------------------Over the years, I’ve explored various products to find a combined "diary" and "notebook" solution:(1) Oxford A4 Diary: Only available in France. A fantastic product with vibrant colours, but it’s expensive and only available in French. This diary pages much thicker then the Collins. Lovely design, but did n't "click" with it. Lots to like.(2) Filofax A4 Organiser: While it offers standard refills (day per page). Binder capability. The Filofax leather organisers are too thick for my liking. The Filofax binder isn’t ideal for 360-degree flipping and is somewhat heavy.(3) Filofax A4 (Design Your Own Refill): Haven’t tried this yet. It uses a standard 4-ring system, so finding a suitable binder is going to be important.(4) Miraclebind A4: Excellent concept, but no diary refills available. Need special holepunch.(5) Filofax Notebook - It is a 12-ring, great notebook, but lacks diary refills. Is special hole punch available?(6) Filofax Clipbook (4-ring): The 4-ring binder isn’t user-friendly for 360-degree flipping, which is a dealbreaker for me.(7) Filofax A4 Weekly/Notes View: Unfortunately, this layout isn’t available. Only available if you design your own.(8) Staples Arc - disc style - never got along with these. The discs do not lay flat.(9) Kokuyo Campus Smart Ring Binder - Japanese 30 hole ring binder. Not available in A4.(10) Traditional 4 ring A4 binder - I did consider removing the wire binding. Punching 4 holes. However, finding the right binder, is an issue (which folds back 360 and lays flat)Other useful products:--------------------------For tickboxes for use in diary - I recommend the Japanese Kodomo No Kao Pochitto 6. It has a check box stamp. Really clever.Conclusion------------While the Collins A4 Diary is functional and practical, it doesn’t fully meet my needs.Collins makes a number of diaries. I hopeI hope to find or create a product that seamlessly integrates a flexible, lightweight design with a combined diary and notebook format. Until then, I’ll continue experimenting with various options.
